Registration of the Solidarity Trade Union, AKKS 347/3/455
On November 10, 1980 the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” (Polish: NSZZ “Solidarność”) was registered. In the Historical Archives of the National Commission, in the Collection of the National Coordination Committee and the National Commission of the Solidarity Trade Union (archival unit entitled “Registration of the Solidarity Trade Union”) one can find materials related to this event, dated from September 10 to November 14, 1980, e.g.:
- statement issued on September 16, 1980 by the Inter-Factory Founding Committee of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” in Gdańsk, on the resolution of the Council of the State on September 13, 1980, related to registering the newly established trade unions,
- one of the copies (meant for internal use) of the statutes submitted for registration to the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw on September 24, 1980,
- comments of the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw to the statutes of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity” in Gdańsk, dated October 1, 1980,
- position of the Solidarity Trade Union on the comments of the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw to the statutes of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union “Solidarity”, dated October 1, 1980,
- statement of the National Coordination Committee of the Solidarity Trade Union, dated October 24, 1980, containing correction related to registration of the Solidarity Trade Union with changes in the statutes introduced arbitrarily by the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw,
- theses prepared by Mirosław Kwiatkowski on October 25, 1980, for discussion on the ruling of the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw (of October 24, 1980), which introduced changes in the Solidarity Trade Union’s statutes,
- resolution of the National Coordination Committee of the Solidarity Trade Union issued on October 27, 1980, regarding the decision of the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw on changes to the statues of the Solidarity Trade Union,
- statement issued on November 11, 1980, addressed to all members the Solidarity Trade Union, on the decision of the Supreme Court (made on November 10, 1980), allowing for revision of the ruling of the Voivodeship Court in Warsaw,
- appeal of November 14, 1980, regarding the withdrawal of readiness to strike by the National Coordination Committee and regional trade union authorities, signed by Lech Wałęsa – chairman of the National Coordination Committee and Inter-Factory Founding Committee in Gdańsk, Zbigniew Bujak – chairman of the Inter-Factory Founding Committee in Warsaw, and Andrzej Gwiazda – vice chairman of the Inter-Factory Founding Committee in Gdańsk.
