Dąbrowska – Petersen collection
This month’s portion of scans from the Solidarity National Commission Archive (full name: the Archives of the National Commission of NSZZ „Solidarność”) features a choice of press clippings samples from Polish newspapers and leaflets published in 1980, collected by Aleksandra Dąbrowska – Petersen from Copenhagen. Mrs. Dąbrowska – Petersen was a lawyer and member of solicitors’ team in Gdańsk. She died on November the 3rd, 1996. Her collection of press clippings, as she wished, was forwarded to our Archive in January 1997 via the Solidarity Archive Foundation.
The Dąbrowska – Petersen collection contains press clippings from such newspapers as Dziennik Bałtycki, Kurier Polski, Przekrój, Polityka, Czas. In this collection you can also find clippings from Strike Information Bulletin (Polish: Strajkowy Biuletyn Informacyjny), The Worker (Polish: Robotnik), Workers’ Self-management (Polish: Samorządność), Solidarity of Lower Silesia (Polish: Solidarność Dolnośląska), Solidarity Information Bulletin – Independent Self-governing Trade Union Founding Committe, News of Independent Self-governing Trade Union Founding Committee at “Westerplatte Heroes” Northern Shipyard and Gdańsk Farse ’80 (Polish: Szopka Gdańska `80). The collected materials refer to numerous interesting issues, e.g. the August 1980 Strike, registration of NSZZ „Solidarność”, dealings of the National Coordinating Commission, the Monument to the Shipyard Workers Killed in 1970 in Gdańsk, “Robotnicy `80” documentary. Several leaflets, poems and photographs are also included in this collection.
