I General Congress of Delegates of the Solidarity Trade Union, the Gdańsk Region – the Gdańsk Region of the Solidarity Trade Union, No. 7/59
The below scans come from the collection of the Gdańsk Region of the Solidarity Trade Union (fond No. 7). They are related to the Region’s legislative body – General Congress of Delegates (GCD). The first GCD took place in Gdynia in two rounds, July 2-5 and 13-17, 1981. The Congress gathered 600 delegates who represented 870 thousand members of 2008 enterprise committees of the Solidarity Trade Union. The delegates selected 61 members of the Board of the Region, delegates for the first National Congress of Delegates, and members of the Regional Audit Board. The Congress adopted several resolutions, e.g. on workers’ self-government, mass media, the Gulf of Gdansk water quality.
In the Archives of the National Commission of the Solidarity Trade Union we can find also a publication containing documents of the I General Congress of Delegates of the Solidarity Trade Union, the Gdańsk Region, such as the oath taken by regional authorities of the Union, acknowledgements given to members of the Bureau of the Inter-Enterprise Strike Committee and the Inter-Enterprise Founding Committee, wire messages, electoral regulations of the Solidarity Trade Union, the program resolution and other acts, announcements, lists of members of the Board of the Region, Regional Audit Board and the Gdansk Region’s delegates to the I National Congress of Delegates of the Solidarity Trade Union. The publication also includes the frame chart of the Gdańsk Region organizational structure, the draft program resolution of the I GDC of the Gdańsk Region, and the report of the Electoral Committee of the Gdańsk Region.
